This installation is fairly straight forward but with a few features to overcome our common problem of “long legs & narrow stairs”
An Otolift Air with a 5000 style seat was decided upon having seen the CAD drawings and identified the need for the user to travel at a 60 degree angle (this is perfectly safe, the seat belt should always be used as the user can find the journey disconcerting to begin with).
The Otolift Air also has a minimal intrusion short start or drop nose. The need for this is clearly shown in these photos as a normal stairlift rail ending would interfere with the front door.
The stairlift will overhang the front door when in the hall and should always be returned to its parking place a few steps up as shown here. The parking and calling down of the stairlift is done with the supplied remote controls.
As we have already mentioned, space was at a premium here. The decorative moulding on the stairs and accompanying handrails had to be removed. This is shown here. This was necessary to ensure that the chair could travel as near to the wall as possible.
As we have said in some of our other blogs the Otolift air rail is the smallest curved stairlift rail currently available. It is as discrete as it can be. As shown here.
