Norfolk Stairlifts have recently installed an Oto Two Heavy Duty Curved Stairlift in Lowestoft, Suffolk on this huge 3 storey, 36 step staircase to provide safe transport for the residents of the care home. There was minimum disruption to the everyday life in the home. Norfolk Stairlifts’ three engineers had the complete installation finished within a day.
At the start of the process our surveyor discussed with the management of the care home all options and the best solution was agreed upon.
A heavy duty lift with a limit of 150kg will ensure that all of the residents who can safely use the stairlift can be accomodated. For absolute safety the use of the stairlift will be fully assisted and the seatbelt will be used on every journey. The before and after photos of the bottom of the stairs are here.
This is a stairlift covering all three floors. To avoid the doorway on the stairs and to make best use of the available parking places the Norfolk Stairlift’s surveyor specified a stairlift to travel up the shorter, inside of the staircase. As shown here.
A third parking place has been positioned on the middle floor with sufficient room to safely seat and alight and with room for assistance in doing so. This means that the users can travel in between individual floors or make the entire journey from top to bottom. The mid floor parking is shown here.
The rail on this stairlift is well over twice the length of a standard domestic item. Stairlifts are all battery powered and charge when they are parked. Norfolk Stairlift decided that the battery capacity should be increased well above standard to ensure that multiple journeys can be made without issue. With this reassurance the lift is now providing reliable and safe transport.
