Norfolk Stairlifts have recently organised the installation of a Brooks 180 Curve Stairlift in Lowestoft.
The Brooks 180 Curve Stairlift supplied by Norfolk Stairlifts is suitable for most curved staircases. It has a modular design, meaning that the wait from order to installation is only 7 days. The engineer will usually only be in your home for a few hours and will leave your staircase in a clean and tidy state. The stairlift rail is fixed through any stair carpet and directly into the stair treads. In most circumstances there are no wall fixings required. Our customer in Lowestoft needed a curved stairlift in the quickest time possible. A Brooks Stairlift from Norfolk Stairlifts fitted the bill perfectly. As you can see in the picture, the stairs finish downstairs directly into a hallway.
It is not safe to have the stairlift rail fitted into the hallway as it becomes a hazard that people may trip over. To overcome this, the Brooks 180 Curve Stairlift has a hinge in the rail! This means that the stairlift rail folds out into the hallway to allow the stairlift seat to finish its journey. Once the stairlift user has got up from the machine it is parked on the rail further up the staircase using a remote control. The hinged part of the rail then folds back up leaving the hallway free of obstruction. The hinged rail looks like this when not in use , the second picture show the seat on the hinged rail when it is in the hallway.
At the top of the stairs the seat will turn through a quarter turn to allow the user to get on and off the machine safely with the staircase behind them. This turning can be done by releasing a catch on the seat and turning the seat manually or the stairlift can be fitted with a powered turn so that it does all the hardwork! This is what the stairtop looked like before the Brooks Stairlift was installed. The Brooks Stairlift will arrive upstairs with the foot rest level with the landing. It then turns as described above to allow the user to stand up with the staircase behind them.
Lowestoft has been a historic fishing town. The industry is all but gone nowadays, but in its heyday the ports of Lowestoft and Gt Yarmouth would land 400 million herring in one season. The town was also heavily bombed during World War 2, but has recovered to be the vibrant place we see today, which is renowned for industry as well as tourism.
